In a few words

Dating from the beginning of the 18th century, the Vieille Forge is a typical Ardennes house located in the center of the village of Mont, in the commune of Houffalize. It is thus since more than 300 years that the house overhangs the valley of the Fairies, in perfect symbiosis with the fauna and the flora present.

Over the years, La Vieille Forge has seen the addition of "Belgium's smallest brewery", lush gardens and facilities for ever-greater autonomy (with 51 photovoltaic panels!) and comfort.

We are taking over since 2022. With the deep desire to continue the history of this house. Beerlovers, sportsmen or nature lovers, you will feel at home...

The rooms

Three quiet guest rooms with modern comfort and the theme of the greatest Belgian beers.

Some rooms can accommodate up to 5 people. All rooms are equipped with television, desk space, at least one double bed, private shower room, free wifi. Bed and bath linens are provided free of charge to our guests.

All rooms are located on the 1st or 2nd floor, accessible by stairs only. We will be happy to help you if needed...

For the respect of all our guests, our pets are unfortunately not allowed.

Our home

The table

On request and on certain dates only*, we offer our guests a table d'hôtes composed of regional and seasonal products. The 3 course menu (or similar special dinner) is proposed at 59€ per person, aperitif, selection of wines or beers, water and coffee/tea included. A children's menu is available for 4 to 11 years old (18€ - 1 drink and 1 dessert included). The table d'hôtes must be reserved at least 7 days in advance. Snacks, home made 2-course dinners and cold platters are also available 7/7 according to availability and upon reservation. Please consult us for the menu of the month, possible allergens or if you need help for a restaurant booking.

*Mainly on Saturdays, for minimum 6 and maximum 12 guests.

The Wellness

A private wellness area is available, free of charge*. Jacuzzi for 2 people, infrared cabin for 2 people, wood fire, herbal tea room and massage chair are available to you in winter and summer, with a peaceful view of the Vallée des Fées.

*1 hour offered per night and per room (5.30pm-9pm), according to availability. Beyond that, 24€/additional hour. Reservation required before your arrival.

Our home

The bar

A bar area is open* for our guests from 4pm to 10/11pm (*could be closed exceptionnally without prior notice). Arrows, board games, Wii, music, couch and wood fire will contribute to your evening "relaxation". A pool table (14+) is also accessible in summer.

Our bar is an honesty bar concept: serve yourself, note your drinks and enjoy!

The garden

Equipped with a playground for children and adults (with a petanque court), our garden overlooking the "Vallée des Fées" is an invitation to read, to enjoy a long aperitif or to take a well-deserved nap!
